Tipper Truck Inspection & Certification in Saudi Arabia
Tipper trucks haul sand, aggregate, spoil and demolition waste on road, drainage and building projects throughout Saudi Arabia. The hoist cylinders, hinge pins and body structure take repeated shock loading, and the raised body creates a crushing hazard during maintenance. Independent inspection verifies that the tipping system, safety props and running gear are in a reliable condition.
What we inspect on a tipper truck
- ✓Hoist cylinder (single or telescopic) for rod scoring, seal leaks and drift when the body is raised
- ✓Body-to-chassis hinge pins, bushes and sub-frame for wear, cracking and secure retention
- ✓Body floor, side walls and welds for wear-through, cracks and impact damage
- ✓Tailgate hinges, latches and locking mechanism for correct operation and wear
- ✓Hydraulic pump, PTO, control valve and hoses for leaks and correct operation
- ✓Body-up safety prop or stop bar, and a body-up warning in the cab or on the dashboard
- ✓Reverse alarm, rear camera or mirrors, and rear lights
- ✓Brakes, suspension and tyres, checked against the loaded weight in service
Common defects we find
- ✓Hoist cylinder seal leakage causing a raised body to settle
- ✓Worn hinge pins and bushes allowing body movement
- ✓Cracked welds or worn-through floor plate
- ✓Broken or bent tailgate latches and hinges
- ✓Missing or bent safety prop for maintenance work under a raised body
Risks of operating uncertified
- ✓A raised body dropping on a person during maintenance or inspection under it
- ✓Rollover while tipping on soft or uneven ground, or with an overheight body contacting power lines
- ✓Load spillage from a faulty or unlatched tailgate onto traffic or workers
Testing, standards & frequency
Load / performance test
Not applicable: a proof load test is not normally required. A raise-and-lower function test of the body, hoist drift test, relief valve pressure check and brake performance test are typically used instead.
Inspection interval
Typically at least annually and before mobilisation, with the safety prop and hoist drift checked again after any hydraulic repair or body modification.
Standards referenced
- OSHA 29 CFR 1926.601 (motor vehicles, including dump body requirements)
- Manufacturer specifications and operating manuals
- Saudi Aramco General Instructions (GI), where applicable

FAQs
Why is the safety prop on a tipper truck inspected?+
The prop is the positive mechanical support that keeps the body from falling if the hydraulics fail while someone works underneath. It must be present, undamaged and used.
Is a tipper truck the same as a rigid dump truck?+
No. A tipper is a road-going truck with a hydraulic tipping body, while a rigid dump truck is a larger off-highway machine used in quarries and mines. They have different inspection requirements.
