Mobile Crane Operator Training & Certification in Saudi Arabia
A mobile crane operator training and certification course for operators of truck-mounted, rough-terrain and all-terrain cranes. Candidates learn to read load charts, set up on outriggers, work with riggers and signallers, use the load moment indicator and complete daily checks, ending with a written test and a practical lift assessment on the crane type they will run. Content is built around ASME B30.5 and your client's lifting rules, and we confirm the current scheme with you before booking.
Scope of Work
- ✓Mobile crane types and components: hydraulic truck-mounted, rough-terrain and all-terrain cranes, boom, hoist, hook block, wire rope and counterweights
- ✓Load chart reading: radius, boom length and angle, working range, deductions for hook block, jib and rigging, and rated capacity in each configuration
- ✓Site and set-up: ground bearing and mats, outrigger extension and levelling, wind limits, overhead power lines, underground services and exclusion zones
- ✓Working to a lift plan: confirming load weight, radius and configuration against the load chart before the hook leaves the ground, and stopping when the plan and the site no longer match
- ✓Load moment indicator, anti-two-block and other limiters: what they show, how they are checked and why they never replace the operator's judgement
- ✓Signals and communication: standard hand signals, radio protocol, working with the rigger and signaller, and the stop signal that anyone may give
- ✓Daily and pre-use checks of structure, hydraulics, wire rope, hook and latch, brakes and safety devices, with logbook entries and defect reporting
- ✓Written test and a practical assessment lifting, swinging and placing a load to a defined point, including pick-and-carry where the load chart allows it, and shutdown procedures
Standards
- ✓ASME B30.5 (mobile and locomotive cranes), including operator qualification and conduct
- ✓OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart CC (cranes and derricks in construction)

FAQs
What do I need for a crane operator license in Saudi Arabia?+
Requirements depend on your employer, the client and the applicable scheme, and often combine formal training, a practical assessment, evidence of experience on the crane type and fitness to work. The site or client usually issues its own permit to operate on top of the course certificate. We confirm what your project requires, and whether TVTC requirements apply, before you book.
Is the assessment specific to the crane type and capacity?+
Yes. Load charts, controls and set-up differ between truck-mounted, rough-terrain and all-terrain cranes, so the practical assessment is done on the type the operator will use and the competency card records the type and capacity range. An operator moving to a different type needs familiarisation on it.
Can you assess operators on our crane at site in Riyadh, Jubail or NEOM?+
Yes, on your crane at your site when it has a valid inspection and the ground and lift area are safe for practical work. Mobilisation to Riyadh, Jubail, Yanbu, NEOM and other locations is arranged per project.
Does a crane operator certificate mean the operator can lift without a rigger and signaller?+
No. The certificate shows the operator completed training and assessment on the crane. Each lift still needs a lift plan suited to its complexity, competent riggers and a signaller, and compliance with site rules. Our Rigger Level 1 to 3 courses cover those roles.
