Forklift Inspection & Certification in NEOM

A forklift is a powered industrial truck that lifts and carries palletised or forked loads on a vertical mast, with a counterweight at the rear balancing the load. Forklifts run in warehouses, fabrication yards, plants and construction laydown areas across Saudi Arabia, where heat, sand and overloading accelerate wear. A third-party inspection confirms the truck can lift its nameplate capacity safely and gives contractors and client safety teams the record they ask for before mobilisation. The giga-project in north-west Saudi Arabia, mobilising vast fleets of heavy equipment and workers.

Forklift inspection in NEOM: local context

Materials reach NEOM over long road hauls and, where port facilities are available, by sea, then move through laydown yards, warehouses and the port area at Oxagon, keeping forklifts, telehandlers and reach stackers in near-constant use. EES inspects masts, forks, chains, brakes and load charts on site and can plan checks around shift patterns so deliveries and site logistics keep moving.

Forklift inspection scope in NEOM

  • ✓Fork arms measured for heel wear, blade thickness, straightness and cracks at the heel and hook against the manufacturer's wear limits
  • ✓Mast channels, rollers, carriage and load backrest checked for cracks, wear and missing fasteners
  • ✓Lift chains checked for elongation, seized links, worn anchor pins and adequate lubrication
  • ✓Lift and tilt cylinders inspected for rod scoring, seal leakage and drift under load
  • ✓Service brake, parking brake and inching pedal tested for effectiveness, including a brake test on a gradient where practical

  • ✓Inoperative parking brake, reverse alarm or seat belt

Standards

  • ✓ANSI/ITSDF B56.1 (low lift and high lift trucks)

  • ✓ISO 5057 (inspection and repair of fork arms in service)
  • ✓Manufacturer specifications and load charts

Testing

A capacity test with certified test weights at the rated load centre is typically carried out at 100% of rated capacity, and some clients specify up to 125% depending on the standard. The test includes lifting to full height, tilting, holding the load for a set period to check for drift, and a travel and braking check with the load.

Frequency

Typically at least annually, with pre-mobilisation checks and more frequent re-inspection where client or site rules require.

FAQs

Can you inspect a forklift on site in NEOM?+

Yes. Our inspectors travel to your yard or project site in NEOM, including The Line, Oxagon and Sindalah, so the equipment does not need to be moved.

Which industries in NEOM request forklift inspection?+

Typically operators and contractors in the Tabuk Province from these sectors: Construction & Infrastructure; Ports, Logistics & Warehousing.

How often does a forklift need to be inspected and certified in Saudi Arabia?+

Many contractors and operators require a third-party inspection at least every 12 months and before the truck is mobilised to a new project. Aramco-linked and mega-project sites can add shorter re-inspection periods and daily operator checks on top of that, so check the client's requirements first.

Does a forklift need a load test, or is a visual inspection enough?+

A visual and functional inspection finds wear and defects, but a load test proves the lift, tilt and braking systems hold up at rated capacity. Many client procedures ask for both on first mobilisation and at the periodic inspection.
